eAWB Adoption lndia
How UPLIFT pushed India's e- AWB Adoption Rank?

One leading ground handler consumes nearly 8000 tonnes of paper every year to move Cargo. This is equivalent to chopping off 160,000 trees year after year. Ironically, this many tonne of paper is consumed only for processing Air Waybill, and the number can be even higher for other documents.

Hence, Air Cargo needs a robust paperless trade strategy, and that would be to digitise air waybill processing. IATA and other trade bodies are rapidly pushing for 100 per cent adoption of electronic Air Waybill worldwide. However, industry experts believe that the trade bodies have long pushed for digitisation, yet the low adoption rate persists. In order to overcome this resistance, leading ground handlers are now incentivising the adoption of e-AWB, which is believed to be a game changer in the coming few months. UPLIFT, a pioneering initiative by Kale Logistics Solutions and ACAAI, offers seamless data migration, and nearly 15,000 stakeholders have benefitted from this. UPLIFT facilitates faster adoption of electronic Air Waybill among the stakeholders in the Logistics industry in India. Due to this, the adoption rate of electronic air waybills jumped to new heights in India and gave a push to the e-freight initiative. Due to the same, India's rank jumped to 6 from three-digit and two-digit numbers in the past. This has resulted in various sustainability synergies, such as 1000 to 1500 trees saved annually per Airport/Port, followed by a reduction in physical document utility. Moreover, stakeholders realise business synergies too in terms of cost savings and improved operational efficiency. Some say they are able to process more air waybills compared to the manual process they carried forward. With the UPLIFT model, several other countries are adopting the same strategy.
